KYMC is operated and owned by the West County YMCA and is a non-profit radio station.
KYMC is the only radio station owned by the YMCA in the United States.
KYMC's broadcast area stretches from St. Peters to Creve Couer.
What's on KYMC?
KYMC plays music you won't find on other stations: a mixture of indie, underground, post-punk, dreampop, shoegaze, imports from Britain and New Zealand, and alternative rock from the 80's.
Some of the bands you'll hear on KYMC include: Radiohead, The Smiths, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Death Cab for Cutie, The Stone Roses, The Clash, Saint Etienne, The Shins, Editors, Big Country, Interpol, Matt Pond PA, Velvet Underground, and R.E.M.
Other features include a show from Point DJ Les Aaron, The Parent's Journal, Christian programming, and regular shows from a variety of DJs. Program director Matt Diestelrath also arranges on-air interviews with bands from around the world.
What Else Does KYMC Do?
KYMC provides mobile DJ services, guitar lessons, and even radio training for kids who want to have their own shows.
